Building on the passage of the President's supplemental funding request, representatives from the Department of State, Department of Defense, and National Security Council spoke with Ukrainian counterparts to continue negotiations critical to long-term bilateral security arrangements and other commitments under the G7 Joint Declaration of Support to Ukraine, which was announced last July in Vilnius. The United States is proud to support Ukraine's effort to build its current and future force capabilities while we simultaneously provide assistance to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, rebuild its economy, protect its citizens, and pursue integration into the Euro-Atlantic community. The United States is among 32 countries pursuing long-term bilateral security arrangements with Ukraine. To date, nine of those countries have completed negotiations and signed such an agreement.
